초록

본 논의에서는 신채호의 유묵으로 알려진 8폭 병풍, 10폭 족자, 그리고 오언시서예의 진위에 대해 고증하였다. 우선 8폭 병풍은 「부자기문」, 10폭 족자는 주자의「주자십훈」, 그리고 5언시는 왕유의 시 구절을 썼음을 밝혔다. 이들 작품들의 전래및 입수 경위를 추적했고, 또한 이 작품들이 지닌 사상을 단재의 사상과 비교하여서로 거리가 있음을 밝혔다. 그리고 서예 작품들의 서체와 단재 서체를 비교하여이 작품들이 단재의 서예가 아님을 밝혔다. 마지막으로 호와 낙관 등에서도 단재의특성과는 거리가 멀다. 궁극적으로 이들 서예 작품은 단재의 글이 아니며, 단재의 글처럼 보이게 조작한것일 뿐이다. 그것이 조작이라고 할 수밖에 없는 것은 족자 서예는 단재와 달리 서체가 유연하고, 왕유시는 단재가 베껴 쓸 하등의 이유가 없고, 병풍 서예는 맥락도제대로 연결되지 않기 때문이다. 시에 조예가 깊고, 한학에 밝은, 그리고 무엇보다주체성이 강한 단재가 남의 글들을 그렇게 베껴 쓰지는 않았을 것이다. 그러므로8폭 병풍, 10폭 족자, 왕유시 서예는 단재의 이름을 빌려 조작한 假品으로 볼 수밖에없다.

Abstract

In this study, I analyzed the authenticity of calligraphies of eight-panel folding screens, ten-panel scrolls, and verse with five words which are all known as Shin Chaeho’s handwriting. First of all, it has been revealed that “Bujagimun” is written on the eight-panel folding screens, Juja’s “Jujasiphun” on the ten-panel scrolls, and the verse is a part of Wang Yu’s poem. Then, I tracked the source and means of acquisition of three works and compared these with Danjae’s works based on calligraphy, signature, nickname, and the ideology. It is concluded that three writings are dissimilar to Danjae’s. Ultimately, these calligraphic works are not Danjae’s writing but only fabricated to look like Danjae’s writing. The reason why it can be declared as a fabrication is that, firstly, the writing style of scroll calligraphy is different from Danjae’s. Secondly, Danjae has no reason to copy Wang Yu’s poem. Thirdly, the folding screen calligraphy was written out of context. Danjae, who is excellent in verse and in Chinese studies, and above all, more self-reliant, couldn’t have copied other people’s writings like that. Therefore, these calligraphic works can only be regarded as forgeries.
